    Inga Fonar Cocos

Born in Warsaw, Poland. Lives and works in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
In her works she deals with the invisible processes inherent to a social or an individualsituation and the way they are used in handling memory, pain and in forming world view. Motivated by the will to understand the mechanism behind the visual appearance and to clarify the logic within reality, she focuses on the traces that the invisible leaves within the visible in order to reveal what lies behind it.

She uses video, installation, photography and drawing in conveying and visualizing these processes. In her video Name, exhibited amongst others, in Mediations Biennale in Poznan, Poland (2010) she investigates into the suppressed secrets of persons who lived a certain period of their lives under a different name from that bestowed to them when born, and presents the emotional and social conflicts they experience.

Her works have been exhibited at museums, including the National Museum in Poznan, Poland, Ashdod Art Museum, Israel, Kunstverein Bellevue-Saal Wiesbaden, Germany, Ein Harod Museum and others, in public spaces and art galleries in Israel and Europe.
Fonar Cocos’ works are found in public and private collections in Israel. She is a recipient of national prizes and grants. A comprehensive book about her work was published in 2009 under the auspice of Ein-Harod Museum.
Inga Fonar Cocos graduated the Kalisher School of Art, Tel-Aviv (1983); the Tel-Aviv University- Magna Cum Laude and Dean’s List – B.A. in Art History (1998); M.A. studies at the Faculty Graduate Program in the Arts, TA (2004-2006). She wrote for art magazines (1997-2005), and was a chairwoman and a co-founder of the professional artists’ organization (2002-2005).
